About the Homeowner

Hello, I’m so glad you’re here!

My name is Jenna and I am the owner of a beautiful 1877 Italiante Victorian home.

I’d like to share a little bit about me, as the homeowner and your personal tour guide on this adventure!

I am a machine shop & manufacturing engineer educator by day and old house lover/fixer/restorer/appreciator in my spare time.

I’m restoring my house alongside my parents (read my first post here to learn more about that!) and am learning more about restoration, Victorian houses, and general construction than I ever thought possible. I am beyond grateful for this experience!

Why am I here?

I am what you might call picky. However, I prefer to look at myself as having principles. (Although, I’ve come to find out that it’s really only me who views me that way.)

When looking for a house, my principles were truly shining through. I wanted nothing updated, nothing new, nothing built in this century. I sent listings to my parents where walls were missing, or half the house had settled into the ground, or where they were close to being condemned.

Maybe I’m weeeeee bit crazy, or maybe I have a soft-spot for the underdog house.  Either way, I was OBSESSED with houses that were out of the norm.

Every house that looked remotely stable, I did not want.  I didn’t get a warm a fuzzy feeling from them.  They felt too…well, too basic. *ICK*

I know I’m not the only one out there who feels this way.  So when I found my home (not falling into the ground, but still filled with tons of charm), I wanted to share my experience with all of the other crazies out there.  I also wanted to document the amount of work we’re putting into it!

In the end, if one reader can be inspired by the hard word and dedication it takes to revive an old house, I’ve reached my goal.

What can I offer you?

Probably a little sass, a ton of sarcasm and dry humor, hopefully some ideas for your own house, and most definitely expert insight into the whole process of restoring an old home.

I’ll be sharing products used, background as to how we salvaged items for reuse, research methods, and the steps we took to bring this house back to life.

Thank You

I’m so grateful you’re here and joining this journey.  If at any time you have questions or comments, please reach out!  I’d love to chat!
